X is for Xeriscape, and this is the ultimate one,
Why use any water, when you can have this lawn that uses none!

W is for Weaving, long extensions of beautiful hair,
Takes a trained expert whether you want it here or there!

V is for Vine, dangling in a Mulberry tree,
Phaseolus caracalla in the morning sun,
Ruby is enjoying the beautiful flower,
And Pandy thinks playing Tarzan is fun!

U is for Under,
Candy all over the floor,
Mischief just seems to happen,
And not a sign of the perpetrator!

T is for Tired, worn completely out,
Mama Ruby drifts off in her chair.
After tending to little ones all day,
Blessed sleep knits up the raveled sleeve of care.

S is for Sculpting,
Trying hard to learn a new skill,
Ruby is making some little dolls,
And Dill is making a little Dill!

R is for Reading, all gather to hear,
A tale of far off adventure,
In their minds the picture becomes clear,
When brought to life by the storyteller!

Q is for Quilting,
Lots of cutting and piecing,
To make something useful from scraps,
Is just inherently pleasing!

P is for Pink, all sugar and spice,
A silly indulgance of the heart,
But when the day will be less than nice,
A little girl moment helps at the start.

And btw – did I say pink?

O is for Oven, baking a cherry pie,
Dill is all ready to test if he must,
It looks well done to the eye,
But we’ll know for sure by the crust!
